Rosacea

What is Rosacea?

Rosacea is a chronic (long-term) disease that affects the skin and sometimes the eyes. The disorder is
characterized by redness, pimples, and, in advanced stages, thickened skin  or rhinophyma -- a
swollen, bulbous nose (mostly men) . Rosacea usually affects the face; other parts of the upper body
are only rarely involved.

What are the Symptoms of Rosacea?
Persistent flushing of cheeks, nose and chin
Redness, Burning
Itching and stinging
Sensitivity to skin care products
Bumps
Pimples

What Causes Rosacea?
Factors that cause rosacea to flare up in one person may have no effect on another person.
Although the following factors have not been well-researched, some people claim that one or more of
them have aggravated their rosacea:
Stress
Sun exposure
Extreme weather
heat (including hot baths),
strenuous exercise,
Skin care products
hot or spicy foods
drinks, alcohol consumption,
menopause, and long-term use of topical steroids on the face.

                          Treatment for Rosacea

Advance Cosmedics offers a  non-invasive skin health and restoration treatment that erases the
damage inflicted on your skin from sun, aging and biological factors as well as  Rosacea. The IPL
technology supplies a broad spectrum of light which reaches deep down within the skin, targeting
pigment and vascular imperfections. The goals of therapy are a more even skin color and texture.

At Advance Cosmedics we can correct a variety of skin conditions such as brown spots and redness of
the face, while offering a safe, non-invasive solution that can be tailored to your individual condition and
skin type.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a state of the art techonology used to treat rosacea.

The IPL corrects a variety of skin conditions such as brown spots and redness of the face, while offering
a safe, non-invasive solution that can be tailored to your individual condition and skin type. The IPL can
treat the imperfections on the face as well as the neck, chest and hands.

The IPL is one of the most common technologies used to treat Rosacea. After a series of treatments
this technology can significantly reduce the redness and visible blood vessels on the face. Intense
Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments are comfortable and performed without downtime.

Does the treatment hurt?
You may experience a feeling similar to that of a rubber band being snapped on the skin. Most patients
do not report this sensation as painful. Protective goggles are worn during procedures, and patients
have told us that they are more surprised by the pulse of light and the sound it makes, than the actual
sensation.
How many treatments will I need?
It depends upon the condition being treated. Normally 3 to 6 treatments is required to maximize your
results. You will see immediate results following the treatment of capillaries and pigmented lesions, and
some lesions may require several treatments to fully erase or remove. You will notice a more even tone
to your skin, and a healthier glow, in addition to the lessened and/or disappeared lesions.
Can I go to work the next day?
Yes, after treatment there is no down time, which means you can resume all of your normal activities
immediately afterward.
Are treatments safe? Are they approved by the government?
The IPL and Laser treatments offered at Advance Cosmedics are FDA approved to treat the full range
of skin concerns including unwanted hair, brown spots, age spots, varicose veins, spider veins, facial
flushing or redness in the skin (erythema), rosacea, acne even birthmarks such as port wine stains.
